✧ ✦ ✧ Portrait of Grainger ✧ ✦ ✧

Dear internet,

It's another year of Grainger.

Some people know him as Sal, or perhaps tasted his colorful delicacies as Hobbs. Some know him from real life, some from Discord, games, old stories, strange adventures, family gatherings, or the many little intersections where people become part of each other's lives.

This page is a birthday scrapbook for all of those versions of him. If you have a story, a memory, a ridiculous quote, an affectionate complaint, or simply something you want him to carry into his next fifty years, leave it in the guestbook below.

✦ Grainger Lore ✦

Every good shrine requires canon, disputed canon, and information repeated so often that nobody remembers where it came from.

01

Ancient Lore

As a youth in the Northern lands of rural New York, began life as a precocious tractor driver, fruit seller and rambunctious rapscallion.

02

Classic Grainger Behavior

Pointing out inconsistencies in road designs and hilarious details in signage.

Asking "how's it going?" when he knows it isn't going well.

03

Deep Cut

Crow?

04

Unreasonably Endearing

Beneath approximately 6 ft and 8 in of nerd, wit and geography facts is an absolutely preposterous amount of tenderness.

Happy Birthday, Tiberius. ♡

There are approximately a billion websites on the internet, and frankly, far too few of them are about you. I have decided to correct this oversight. So here it is: a tiny patch of cyberspace dedicated to one very tall, wonderfully strange, deeply kind man who somehow wandered into my life and became my favorite person in the whole ridiculous world.

You take care of the creatures and people who belong to your world. You remember the important things. You show up. You teach me things I didn't know I wanted to know. You have made me laugh until I couldn't breathe. You have listened to my endless thoughts, schemes, worries, systems, ideas, and occasional dissertations and somehow continued voluntarily speaking to me afterward.

We've played games and watched hours of Star Trek and Stargate and the best (and some worst) science fiction. We've traveled together. We've talked about serious things and completely stupid things. We've shared ordinary days and adventures and thousands upon thousands of messages traveling through little wires and radio waves between us.

And somewhere along the way, you became woven into the texture of my life.

Not just the exciting parts.

The little parts.

The good morning parts.

The look at this weird thing parts.

The I need to tell you what happened parts.

The parts that don't look important while they're happening, but eventually you realize are what a life is actually made of.

So, happy birthday, Tiberius. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being in my life. Thank you for being the person you are, and for letting me be part of it.
